How did you get into Netball and why do you love the sport?
I started playing Netball when I was 6 because it was what my older sister was doing. I fell in love with it from the get go, I love how it challenges you physically and lets you play with creativity and flair. I have also made my bestest friends through the sport.
What does your typical day look like?
Prior to injury a typical day would be to get up around 7am, breakfast and coffee then to training for 8.30/9am. Depending on the day it's either 2 hours Court session or 1.5hr gym and conditioning. Once finished I'll go home and do some study. I am nearly finished with my Medical Science degree. Post-rehab, I get up a little later and do rehab for about 2 hours some days and then upper body gym the other.
How does your training change leading into a big competition?
Usually we will have a block of pretty intense training and a short tapering off period. For me the next big comp is the 2022 SSN season and hopefully the Commonwealth Games!
What is your proudest moment?
Debuting for the Australian Diamonds early 2021 - a dream since I was a little girl.
If you weren't an athlete what would you be?
Something in Medicine I think - I study it and my mum is a nurse so I have always loved helping people.
What injuries have you had and how did/ do they affect you?
My ACL injury is my first injury. Mentally it is quite daunting as it comes with a 9-12 month rehab period. Although it has allowed me to take a step back from my netball world which is usually go, go, go and reset and be really in touch with my body.
How does NuroKor help you manage pain, performance, rehab & recovery?
NuroKor has been a big support, helping me stimulate my quad muscles and make single leg exercises a little easier - you don't realise how much muscle you lose with this type of injury. Really excited to keep exploring how NuroKor can assist with my pain management further down my rehab track.
Where do you use the devices?
I use the mibody when in the gym doing lower body exercises just to give my quad that little more activation. I use the mitouch when I am really targeting the quad in more stationary exercises.
What's next for you?
Obviously the biggest goal is to get back on the court. Making the Comm Games team would also be huge, but for now just playing netball again will be amazing. We’re delighted to be supporting Kiera with her rehabilitation from her ACL injury. We wish her the best of luck with her studies, rehabilitation and making the Commonwealth Games. Welcome Kiera!
